Should have resigned months ago, being removed kicking and screaming like this is just embarrassing.
On the other hand, anyone thinking he’s going to be replaced by a more „moderate“ leader is delusional.

Good news everyone!
Seriously, the BC parliament just got a whole lot saner thanks to the departure of this man from the top of the opposition. Hopefully there’s more sensible stuff to come. But BC politics is always a crap shoot, so who knows.

That happened a lot faster than I expected. In the thread on the letter saying 20 if his MLAs had no confidence in him, I referenced how Stockwell Day was ousted after part of his caucus quit and formed their own party for a while. That played out over weeks from what I remember. Rustad was done within a day. Assuming of course that he accepts this. If he tries to fight it, I’m going to go broke over my popcorn bill.

Wonder if the leadership race will lead to the party splitting into two parties again? My politics are centre, sometimes leaning left and sometimes right. But the BC Conservative party appears to be trying to combine seriously rightwing and moderate middle of the road conservatives. It does not appear to be working.

Whats hilarious is it looks like the party circumvented their own rules to have him removed. Good luck arguing the validity of “professionally incapacitated” in court when Rustad is inevitably petty enough to serve them a lawsuit.
