The retarded thing in the Netherlands is that they also tax natural juices but because we have such a big milk lobby, drinks like choclate milk aren’t taxed and now juice companies add milk powder to the juice to avoid the tax.

in slovakia it is 15 eurocents per litre since year 2025
In Europe, the hard part is finding something that isn’t taxed.
Given the rates of obesity in countries seems entirely disconnected from having vs not having this tax, it seems not to be a very useful deterrent.
something Finland and Russia do that Estonia doesn’t? That’s a surprise
>Italy
>unenforced
Shocking
Important note: Norway has abolished its sugary drink tax in 2021 and no longer levies a tax on non-alcoholic drinks. It does however maintain a general sugar tax on raw sugar [[1]](https://www.skatteetaten.no/en/business-and-organisation/vat-and-duties/excise-duties/about-the-excise-duties/sugar/?utm_source=chatgpt.com).
Italy being Italy

It’s fucking disgusting
Finland has the highest sugary drink tax rate at €0.32 or £0.28 per litre (or 1.1¢ per fl oz) [[2]](https://www.helsinkitimes.fi/finland/finland-news/domestic/28025-finland-plans-tiered-sugar-tax-on-soft-drinks-from-april-2026.html#:~:text=Currently%2C%20all%20sugar%2Dcontaining%20drinks,0.07%20from%20the%20current%20level).
In comparison, the UK has a tax rate of 19.4p/litre for low sugar drinks or 25.9p/litre for the higher band (or 0.73¢/fl oz and 0.98¢/fl oz) [[3]](https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/soft-drinks-industry-levy-statistics/soft-drinks-industry-levy-statistics-commentary-2021#:~:text=There%20are%20currently%202%20SDIL%20rates%2C%20applicable,to%20or%20greater%20than%208g%20per%20100ml.).
Another way to increase prices for customers and get more money for governments…
In Ukraine we had to make them but where we are with it – dunno 🤷♂️
The Netherlands does not have a sugary drink tax
Pay money to the government for.. ? Because sugar in drinks is unhealthy!
How is the tax unenforced din Italy?
Is it a tax by the European Union and just not collected in Italy?
