And now check how many people applied on this position, and count the probability of lending the job
Most of them are just for marketing
Not to be negative but very very unlikely. I am an international student as well. Out of all my other international student friends i know of one person who landed a job in a related field. The job market is extremely saturated. I know people who applied for more than 200-300 job listings and not even get an interview.
Firstly, I fail to see how the fact that you are black is relevant.
Secondly, a lot of these jobs prefer Master students, so as an Undergraduate it will be difficult.
But you have C1 German, so you could also work in retail. If you get very lucky, you could get a HiWi job at your uni.
Competitive but possible i did 2 internship and working student at 3 different companies. Do try to use any referral from people working in the companies
It is low probability but it does happen. My team just hired a bachelors student for a working student role, no German required.
The role was open to masters students aswell, but this guy had the best attitude so we chose him.
And this is one of the biggest German companies.
So yes it does happen. And your C1 certification will definitely make it easier for u.
Expect to just be doing service industry jobs (delivery, restaurants etc) as a student.
Very much depends on the field and your German skills. C1 already sounds good on the CV. At my firm about half the students we hire are Non-EU, bosses don’t care as long as the German skills are good enough. I don’t know if that is the case everywhere tho, we work in IT so it is probably a bit more relaxed.
we’re hiring for a student position right now. We’ve got 435 applications so far after one week of the position being online.
We’ll hire someone of course, but the competition is crazy!
I would recommend to try to get a referral. It isn’t a guarantee that you will be hired, however, you’ll most likely will land an interview despite high amount of applicants.
Working student with 0 relevant experience very tough almost negligible.
Working student with enough relevant experience under your belt…possible.
Depends on what area? I was student, just knew English I got two job offers as hiwi, and one master thesis. They didn’t care I could speak German. I have experience preparing CV and cover letters. That might have helped.
I work at one of the companies listed in your picture lol and I’ll tell you this, that job posting is being posted for years now and I was the last hire for that position. These jobs keep getting recycled and posted automatically so it’s not someone is checking all the applicants and then reposting. They do it for visibility once the job position is filled. FYI I got that job through LinkedIn.
Being black really has nothing to do with it(before people jump at me in the comments I’m black so I can definitely talk on this). Yes Germany also has some discrimination issues, but I would say it’s not comparable to the US as an example when it comes to hiring. The main thing they’re looking for is you can work in German language, and for work student positions specifically they probably want you to have some form of experience and the more you have the better you position yourself against others of course. With internships it doesn’t matter too much on the experience side depending on what field you’re looking at, but again it puts you above everyone else when you do have some related experience or even course work
