Some of the Supreme Court’s comments are just *so* close to realizing that internet access needs to be a utility due to its integration in modern life.
Wait until they get involved in the Ai data scraping
For all the downsides, at least AI made piracy a far more murky crime than it was. Since big AI pirates content en masse, it gives everyone an incentive to follow suit. If AI can do it at that large a scale for the benifits of whole corporations, why should any random joe not do the same for their own simple personal use?
I like to imagine Clarence Thomas on his kitchen floor after a fall and the dispatcher is just like nah.

I don’t usually side with Providers but in this case I do. They should too.
Off topic but got me thinking about the file sharing lawsuits years back and wondering if AI companies will ever see similar consequences for their training
Of course they are going to side with the ISP. If they don’t then sites that let users publish content, like Reddit or Facbook are going to have real problems. If that happens, Republicans are going to lose their biggest tool to spread misinformation and fear. They need social media to exist.
If an ISP is held liable for piracy, then so too should the power company for providing power the computer, modem, and router, and the water company for quenching the accused thirst, and so and and so forth.
If they terminate your Internet access for pirating then Meta needs their access terminated too:
