Let’s say that nominating one of the less liked ministers of one of the less liked Government is a bold moves. Not sure that Carney will really win out of that.

Worth noting that the Department of Canadian Heritage is almost always led by someone from Quebec, since it has a larger cultural industry, and that remains true as Miller is a Montreal MP.

Question: all the coverage suggests Dabrusin was given Nature because of Guilbeault’s resignation. I thought Nature was Nathalie Provost’s portfolio (as Secretary of State).

Miller has been appointed minister in five different portfolios under Trudeau and now a second ministerial appointment under Carney.
Miller won around 64% of the vote in his riding in the prior election, the CPC was second at 19%.
So despite having become the face of Trudeau failed immigration policy, being appointed to “turn it around”, this lawyer politician remains popular in his riding and among party leadership.
