Business as usual. Grift. He doesn’t care, MAGA. When will you realize you are in an abusive relationship? That only favors one person? There is no coalition.

    2. No code requirements you say?  The construction crew better get his fat, piggy signature on a liability waiver.

It’s almost as if he understands (at some level) that the next POTUS is going to demolish it straight away.

    4. Imagine it crashing down at the grand opening on him and all his cronies. That would be a real tragic loss.

Does anybody remember at the Sochi Russia olympics where they just hung up a vinyl printed picture of a beautiful house over the rotted out houses along the highway to the venues? We should do that here at the White House. It’s all rotted out.

He just means to skip the ADA accessibility stuff. No wheelchairs allowed

The top official charged with carrying out the laws of our land, doesn’t care about laws. How is this going to work, MAGA? You get to ignore them but everyone else must obey?

Doing a cheap ass and shit job, then he’ll complain about it and stiff the contractor.

    9. ok, so sue the construction companies. tie it up in courts. waste their time. it’s not like *they* have presidential immunity.

Federal projects are weird because permits basically pay for state inspectors to look for code violations. But feds don’t pay states for inspections. However, work on historic buildings, especially federal buildings, is strictly regulated by SHPO State historic preservation office. There is no legal way to bypass SHPO.
The ballroom project is entirely a crime in progress.

Remember when he used illegal immigrants from Poland to remove the asbestos in his building in NYC? He didn’t even give them personal protection equipment (PPE). Now he didn’t even bother to remove the asbestos

Well, it at least gives the next POTUS an excuse to tear it down and build something less gaudy. “Sorry, it wasn’t permitted and wasn’t built to code, we have no choice but to tear it down.”

    13. Fresh-Laugh-9253 on

Of course he did !!! There are no bi laws or permits in his world, or anything that can get in his way…. Funny how corrupt this all is

    14. Pickle-Rick-C-137 on

And then when they want to get paid he will say…

„Sorry, your work is awful and terrible, and you ignored permitting, zoning, and code requirements, so I just can’t pay you for this terrible, horrible work, and everybody knows it.“

    15. Did you or someone you love work on the demolition of the East Wing? You may have been exposed to asbestos which is known to cause Mesothelioma.

Wait until til they find out that a presidential pardon doesn’t get you your business license back, nor does it make you immune to lawsuits.

So when the building collapses and kills the head of some country, we’ll know exactly who to blame. Guess where all the profit from shortcuts is going to go?

I wonder where all that money that is *used* for safety will end up going…

Because you know that there are budget lines originally for it, and now trump will pocket the money

    19. Inspectorgadget4250 on

So which happens first: Electrical failures. Electrical fire. Structural failure. Burst water pipes. Sewer back up. Natural gas leak. Carbon monoxide poisoning from faulty heating system. Other.

    20. Over 100 Trump donors died in the ballroom fire. The fire was caused due too much electrical current for the wiring it was rated for. Which in turn caused the fire to rapidly get out of control due to highly flammable construction material that was used during building. There were no fire alarms or sprinklers in the building because of cosmetic reasons.

This is trumps dream. A construction project with no boring engineers. No fun killing inspectors. Nobody telling him „you can’t do that“. Its funded with other people’s money and he gets to put his stupid name on it.

    22. Psychological-Big334 on

Well I know from personal experience that electrical code exists for a reason.

One way to tell the story of Trump is that all he has done, the trail of devastation he has left in the wake of his rise to power, has been in service to the goal of finally, at long last, being able to ignore permitting, zoning, and code requirements.

    24. This guy tore down part of the whitehouse BEFORE he had any construction permits

    25. aflyingsquanch on

The crews and builder should remember they’d still be criminally and civilly liable if something were to happen down the road.

Regardless of what dipshit tells them.

    26. I can picture it now. A late summer evening. The air around the white house is buzzing with excitement as the inaugural ball begins. Everyone who is anyone is there. Musk, Bazos, Zuckerberg… even Mr. Thiel has emerged from his bunker to attend. Every god fearing America First patriot, politician, and personally is on the list.

The room darkens, and the spotlight beams on the stage. Out walks none other than the American music legend Kid motherfucking Rock. Donned in an all-leather American flag suit with a gold cross brazed on the chest. As he stops stage center the true master piece of his ensemble is revealed. Eagle wings unfold from behind him. Spanning no less than 12 feet across. It will only later be revealed that they were constructed from the feathers of over 2 dozen real bald eagles.

The spotlight cuts out and the stage lights come to life as the bass drum pounds out steady quarter notes and the electric guitar comes in with a low melody. The audience cheers. This is it, they had heard rumors but Kid is playing his new song “I go Hard (for Trump’s Balls). It was written just for this occasion and this will be the only time it will be played live.

The next five and a half minutes will be a blur until that song enters its finale. Then time slows to a crawl. Kid is lifted into the air eagle wings spread as wide as they can go. Everyone was so enthralled with what they were seeing, no one saw the curtains had been set ablaze by the pyrotechnics.

For almost 2 full minutes fire crept across the tops of the massive 40-foot gold woven curtains. The fire’s movement was concealed in the flashing lights and the thickening smoke. The undersized ventilation unable to keep up. Finally, some do notice… FIRE they scream. Ever the hero Yarvin runs to the fire alarm and pulls it…nothing. Others pull the alarms near them…still nothing. They couldn’t have known the decision was made to turn the system off becuse the sprinklers were incorrectly installed and had been leaking.

It is now full panic sets in as 230 guests run to the dozen or so French doors that line 3 of the 4 walls. There too do they meet tragedy more than half of the doors are locked for the event bodies pile up against them. As the ones closest to the doors are crushed to death they will have no way of knowing they are the lucky ones. Others who first made it to the unlocked door ironically suffered the same fate. See inward-opening doors were installed becuse Trump deemed outward-opening fire escape doors were ugly.

A couple of dozen have already lost their lives by the time people begin to try and smash windows, unfortunately, the bulletproof glass is not going to succumb to a ballroom chair. It is now that the heavy burning curtains begin to fall. Covering the screaming people below. This wouldn’t have happened but these curtains were half the cost with 8 weeks less lead time than a fire-resistant material. The curtains weren’t the only thing falling. The cores of custom aluminum-clad panels have begun oozing out and pouring burning plastic on the people below

In the end, whether crushed, suffocated, asphyxiated, or burned alive. 95% of the guest lost their lives that night.

Anyway, that’s how we got universal healthcare in America.

    27. > raising concerns about whether the president is following historical rules when it comes to a White House addition.

Anyone who still has concerns about whether Trump follows any rules has been living under a rock for the last ten years.
