      „Overall, the new car market was up 3 per cent on last year to the end of November, with 124,680 registrations.

      Toyota is set to be the bestselling new car brand in Ireland for 2025. The Japanese car firm is 2,460 registrations ahead of its nearest rival, Volkswagen. Total December sales rarely exceed 500 new cars.

      Toyota’s lead is despite its sales falling 3.8 per cent this year. Skoda is in third place with 12,241, followed by Hyundai with 11,791 and Kia with 9,803.

      Premium brand BMW is now in sixth place with 5,143, ahead of Audi at 4,930. Both are ahead of more mainstream brands like Peugeot, Ford, Dacia and Renault.“

      She’ll probably do a little Instagram story about how bad electric cars are, and she’ll be wearing very little, because sad middle aged men….

      Some friendly advice, do not buy a Volkswagen ID3/4/5/ anything. They are disasterous. Once the 3 year warrenty runs out there is a whole pile of planned obsolescence that kicks in and you need to pay a small fortune replacing parts that never should have failed.

      Since the diesel emissions scandle, they are the most indebted car company in the world. Being propped up by the German government cause of jobs.

      Regardless of your opinion, EV’s have their place and are the long term future. Right now they suit some people very well. Personally, I think PHEV’s should be pushed more.

      I think it’ll hit closer to 30% next year.

      Lots of cheap EVs coming to market.

      I think it hit 30% in September or October this year already.

      I’d consider getting one in a few years if we could get clarification on the legality of those over the footpath charging arms. I see them around Dublin on houses with no driveways, but I’ve also heard of the council making people take them down. Doesn’t make sense to get a car and then not be able to charge it, so we just have a regenerative hybrid at the moment.

      I’ve driven my EV from Galway to Copenhagen (twice), to Poznan, Poland, to Frankfort and to Genova. I do trips to Dublin without a bother. And I’ve been doing it since 2020.

      Some of those trips involved me driving 1,000+ kilometers in a single day.

      Here’s the thing, my own lived experiences make the anti-EV talking points laughably false. For those of you believing them now, you’re only going to be kicking yourself later when you realize you’ve been had.

      Wait till they hit the 2nd hand market, be interesting to see the 2nd hand value and the Kilometres on them, and see will they be easy or hard to shift on.

      I mean you cant buy new diesel cars since car manufacturers have stop making them meaning its either electric, hybrid or petrol. Soon it’ll be electric only.

      Articles like this would be cool years ago, but nowadays people dont have much choice when buying new.

      Is there any danger of the government following in the UKs footsteps and introducing motor tax on evs to make up for lost revenues on carbon tax?
