    1. Kayfabe, as in professional wrestling, putting on a performance or staying in character for the public, happens in politics too. No one was ready for an election, but the other parties still needed to make it seem like they were against this budget. And certainly not the Greens.

I’m really more confused by this more than anything. It’s not like any of this was really unexpected.

      > May said she doesn’t regret voting for the budget because she got Carney to affirm Canada’s commitment to meeting its Paris agreement climate targets.

This just makes her sound so naïve. He’s lied about many progressive positions already, so why did she think that she was the exception? He was already cutting back climate policy and pushing for increased O&G production before this budget vote. It sounds like Carney didn’t even have to play her, because she already played herself.

To steal Chantel Hebert’s joke, they better re-do the HoC curtains, because Pierre is going to have to find a way to hide more votes away for any future spending bills.

Meh. Someone would have voted for it. The liberals would have loved being ‚reluctantly‘ being dragged to the polls for an election most voters would have resented by the 2 other legit national parties who both happen to be in disarray.

    5. Honestly this is just theatrics. She just didn’t want an election yet. That’s really what it boils down to with all of them. Would be nice if one of them would be honest about that but that’d be expecting too much from politicians to quit their performance.
