    1. Troops need to know that not only should they never obey an illegal order, but they will be thrown under the bus if people around them do. I couldn’t imagine wanting to serve under military leaders who demand that I answer for their crimes.

More lies from the Trump War Crimes Administration. Can’t wait until he and drunk Pete are safely behind bars doing their time.

Oh shit, this is not going away. They’re throwing Admirals under the ferries. Not even trying to circle the ships.

    4. terrible-takealap on

lol yeah those fishermen clinging to a blown up boat for dear life were a threat to the military

    5. TemporaryImaginary67 on

They provide no evidence of „self defense.“ Just a 1984 type answer of „the attack was conducted in self defense to protect Americans” and “vital United States interests,” she said.“

Sounds awfully like the White House is trying to find a scapegoat to pin the act on to protect Hegseth and Trump.

It should be obvious to anyone with a brain that this is 110% bullshit.

Defending the admiral while simultaneously throwing him directly under the bus for orders everyone knows Hegseth gave.

But I do hope this puts to rest whatever delirious notion people have that the military will be some magic safeguard against totalitarian overreach. This admiral followed what is undeniably an illegal order and a war crime. And more will do the same, because that’s how totalitarianism works.

White House media is not interested in reality, transparency or truth. They shame Fox News with their propaganda, and that is saying a lot.

      > When two survivors emerged from the wreckage, Bradley issued an order to comply with Hegseth’s alleged instructions to “kill everybody,” according to The Washington Post, citing officials with direct knowledge of the operation.

This doesn’t absolve Hegseth of anything. The admiral complied with orders from Hegseth. This doesn’t absolve the admiral either, obviously, but it seems like they’re going to try to pin this on the admiral and overlook Hegseth’s involvement.

    11. So the survivors, flailing in the sea, were they presenting a lethal threat to the drone, to the aircraft carrier, or both?

100% horseshit. It won’t stop till this entire administration has been wiped clean off the face of the earth. As for being held accountable? As much as it is right, just and what everyone Knows as being proper; I’m growing increasingly pessimistic any real accountability will ever happen for these maligned shithead sycophants, including orange palpatine himself. I’m not attempting to normalize any of this – far fkn from it. But thus far they’re as slippery as eels in oil, and big money just keeps moving the goalposts and redirecting the narratives. It’s loathsome. But it’s happening.

Worst timeline in recent US history by far.

    13. Pardon incoming in 3..2..1..

Otherwise a trial will bring to light what really happened.

    14. Self defense doesn’t work like that. You aren’t allowed to double tap people, lethal force can only be used when your life is immediate danger of death or great bodily harm. You also have to retreat when given the opportunity.

This why the democrats releasing that ad about not following illegal orders is so important. Admirals should know whether or not to direct their staff to execute a boat of fishermen and Leavitt didn’t mention what law the Admiral was within to make the order. So, it’s pretty clear that it was unlawful and she is just providing cover with no real substance as normal. Look away! Nothing to see here!

    16. They were clearly swimming towards the destroyer in an aggressive and threatening manner.

The best way to understand this admin is through the lens of an abusive relationship. We constantly get „look what you made me do“. They cant gaslight us into believing a bunch of fishermen drowning in the sea posed a threat to the mightiest military in the world but they will sure try. Even if we grant their premise that they were super soldier cartel narco runners once those folks were in the sea the threat they posed was zero.

So the story two days ago from literally everyone at the Pentagon, including Hegseth: there was no second strike and any talk of it is completely false.

Story today: There was a second strike and it was ordered by Admiral Bradley, **not** Hegseth.

      Here comes the bus! 🚌🚌

    19. „*in self-defense*“

That says a lot about the US military:

They’ve got the worlds most powerful aircraft carrier carrying 90 warplanes, a nuclear sub, a bunch of other warships, about 15,000 sailors and marines plus a bunch of land-base air assets and they’re afraid of a couple of guys bobbing around in the middle of the ocean.

      Huh!

(I wonder, does Venezuela have a coast guard? What would happen if the VZ coast guard went out to recover the bodies and investigate the sinking? Wondering some more: what if a totally innocent boat or aircraft happened to be nearby when the strike was made?)

    20. FlopShanoobie on

      „I feared for my life.“

Good enough for cops, certainly good enough for the Navy.

    21. WilsonKing0fLizards on

When Pete Hegseth called for a second round, I guess they didn’t know it was a scotch neat, not a double tap

    22. NeverLookBothWays on

Self defense? What were they boating around with Javelins or something?

    23. While I was not there, but it seems baffling that a couple of dudes swimming in the ocean after their boat sinks would be posing a threat to a US Naval fleet.
