      > Apparently, the policy against “Dangerous Products and Services” doesn’t apply to a job that involves harassing and kidnapping innocent people.

I think that line sums the bullshit up pretty well.

Just a reminder that Peter Thiel is a large shareholder at Spotify

    3. Money talks. These „artists“ should take action by pulling their music if they are that outraged.

    4. Yeah I should have hit that last straw before this, but better late than never

      Bye Spotify.

      >The tech world has made its [allegiance to Donald Trump](https://www.avclub.com/spotify-donald-trump-brunch) and to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency [clear](https://www.avclub.com/ilana-glazer-salesforce-kumail-nanjiani-ceo-trump). So it’s not a surprise that Spotify is running recruitment ads for ICE—after all, so are YouTube, HBO, Hulu, Pandora, and [more](https://www.avclub.com/meta-removes-anti-ice-facebook-group).

fuck all of them. please hold, going to cancel spotify that’s the only one i pay for amongst these anyway

can’t won’t give money to nazis, won’t give money to people who grow their business off nazis either. this is kinda basic.

Ironic that they are going to lose paying subscribers from ad-free tier because they want to show fascist ads on the free tier

      edit:

To save your liked songs somewhere first,

      on spotify desktop app:

      – make a new playlist, call it something, say „backup“

      – go to „Liked songs“

      – ctrl A to select all songs. Drag to playlist „backup“

      – Set this playlist to public.

      – click share link

      – paste that link into [https://www.chosic.com/spotify-playlist-analyzer/](https://www.chosic.com/spotify-playlist-analyzer/)

      – click analyse and then find the button that says export to csv and click it to download.

you will have a .csv file with all the songs in your liked songs which you can probably slowly migrate over to another service manually, or you can also use the analyzer to automatically move the songs to apple music etc but I can’t vouch for the security of it as you need to give account access for auto transfer

      – finally you can set the „backup“ playlist to private after that and repeat the process for other playlists you care about

edit2: you can also go to [https://www.spotify.com/us/account/privacy/](https://www.spotify.com/us/account/privacy/) to request to download copy of your data but they slow walk that process by taking 5 days to send it over

    6. The funny bit here…

Spotify is not a US company.

ICE is advertising on a foreign owned streaming site.

    7. It’s Spotify being taken over by AI „music“ anyway. Who in their right mind pays for a service that primarily deals in AI Slop, ICE recruitment ads and The Joe Rogan experience?

    8. dropthemagic on

Fuck this company. Raising prices constantly not paying artist. And now this. If I was an artist I’d pull out

Finally cancelled my Spotify Premium after about 6 years. Really havent used it for actual music in nearly 2 years since the audio quality has been better everywhere else, and their constant references to ICE and AI music has really soured me as a listener/user.

Check the stickied guide. Do NOT give these gang supporters money. Tell your friends.

    11. I dropped Spotify in favor of Tidal when they brought joe rogan on board. I’m glad my decision is still a good one.

    12. britters328 on

Hehe. They haven’t received my money in two months after being subscribed for I don’t know how many years.

Haven’t found my replacement yet but suck it, Spotify. Feels good not giving you my money.

If I wasn’t using it, I’d ditch it in a heartbeat – but thankfully I ditched that app ages ago due to it being just plain bad… especially the PS5 version of the app is so unbelievably awful. Made a post about it like 3 years ago, and I’m STILL getting responses this week how awful it is.

„We just want to make sure everyone knows this wasn’t some bureaucratic oversight, we want everyone to know that we KNOW what we are doing and we are fully okay with being total pieces of shit“

    15. I already cancelled and uninstalled Spotify a while ago. I did double check to see if i had uninstalled it and saw that I had given a 1 star review back in 2023 because of a buggy shit update at the time lol. Its probably to big for review bombing to help, but people who can, should do it anyway lol.

    16. We’ll see what the executives ‘stand by’ when the freak show finally ends, once he’s out of office (he’ll probably be heading out soon of natural old age, anyway), and his asslicking acolytes are in a cage or gone themselves.

    17. Grunkle_Chubs on

tidal is better anyways, the fact Spotify decided to respond to the backlash instead of staying quiet about it says a lot I feel.

    18. archdukemovies on

      Glad I cancelled last week.

I’m switching my Spotify family plan over to Tidal. I’m gonna miss the 15 hours audiobooks and the mini player on the desktop app.
