    1. That’s disgusting, it’s like chewing tobacco and gobbing it on the ground.

Jeebus wept. find the ones who’ve done it or are doing it and send them the bill, with interest.

      Foul.

South Asia surely? I’ve spent enough time in India to have seen this commonplace. Incidentally I’m currently in South East Asia, definitely a different place.

Time to bring back the ‚It’s Nasty Man. Don’t Spit Paan‘ posters I saw around Wembley a decade ago.

Hope it’s not as hard to get off as the chewing gum pictured. Some of that stuff seems to stay for decades.

Once upon a time, even the rough-necked cowboys of the Wild West had the basic decency to aim their gob infused spent chewing tobacco at a designated spittoon.

God only knows what the protocol is back in the subcontinent where this charming habit hails from, though looking at the pavements and bins in the attached pictures – coated in the residue – it’s probably not difficult to hazard a guess it’s fairly lax.

It is a toxic bio-hazard for the poor council cleaning crews who have to scrape it up. It’s unsightly for those who wade through the residue or brush up against bins caked in dried salvia slime sludge. It’s unhygienic. It is utterly, stomach-churningly vile .

The council enforcement officers will turn a blind eye to this but happily hand out fines to an old man who accidentally dropped a peanut on the floor or the young girl who was feeding sausage roll crumbs to a pigeon.

Wait until the Daily Mail find out how much money councils have spent over the years cleaning up chewing gum that white people have spat out.

Spoiler: wrong colour people, not newsworthy

      Ban the Daily Mail

Unsurprisingly the countries where this nonsense is popular have the highest rates of oral cancers.

    11. We have a south Asian neighbour. His father use to come and visit and would log this sort of stuff on our communal stair case. Was so grim and disgusting. Building management won’t even do anything.

    12. Has anyone seen the video of a woman in Wales happily tipping her waste into the river only to happily drive away in her mobility car. I wish I was joking. What has this country become…

It’s been misidentified as Glasgow by some.

More needs to be done by community leaders then. I doubt the people doing this will listen to the council but might listen if it means being shunned by their local community.

    14. I just wish people would stop spitting in public. Spitting tobacco, spitting gum, spitting big nasty gobs of phlegm… it’s gross, guys. Once I walked past someone who was hoarking up a great big spit and I passed them and they spat *on* me. Is it so difficult to swallow, or dispose of your crap into a bin?

I am NOT justifying this behaviour. It is totally unacceptable. But here is an interesting perspective…

In another headline – South Asian Community continues to pay taxes part of which go to NHS, part of which is used to remedy alcohol related health issues. However South Asian Community does not consume alcohol.

Alcohol-related problems are estimated to cost the NHS in England approximately £4.9 billion per year, which constituted around 3% to 3.6% of its annual budget in recent estimates.

    16. I think as a country we are completely losing respect for the places we live. Noticed a massive increase of general rubbish and fly tipping in our area the last few years. I dont think its one demographic either its a complete failure as a society.
