„Contradictions“; that’s quite generous. It’s naked, brazen hypocrisy at the expense of innocent people, whether civilians in Venezuela (or the surrounding waters) or the family members of those who died of an OD due to the drugs Hernandez trafficked.

      It’s disgusting. It’s amoral. It’s reprehensible.

      It’s more than just a „““contradiction“““

      Honduran drug traffickers – 👍

      Venezuelan drug traffickers – 👎

Hypocritical, ironic, contradictory, condescending…pick a word and it’l work with our Commander-in-Chief.

    4. Fuck nytimes and their tone deaf headlines.

      Trump isn’t displaying contradictions.

      The word is fascism. FASCISM.

I’m beginning to think he might be a little bit of a hypocrite. It’s always the ones you least expect!

This is the type of insightful NYT journalism that has contributed so much to making America what it is today.

      /s or not /s because it’s true. I can’t decide myself.

    7. Using the word „contradictions“ implies that there’s some sort of overall theory behind every idiotic thing he does.

„Verified unhinged lunatic spouting contradictory nonsense as per usual“

      More at 11.

    9. There’s no contradiction. He does whatever the person writing him a check wants him to do, whether that’s the oil industry, a billionaire weirdo, or a criminal needing a favor.

The man’s compass always points to whatever benefits himself. He’s nothing if not consistent in that regard.

    10. >In a statement, Mr. Trump said he had issued the pardon because “many friends” had asked him to do so, adding, “They gave him 45 years because he was the president of the country — you could do this to any president on any country.” (After Mr. Trump left office, he was convicted of 34 felony counts of falsifying business records, related to the reimbursement of hush money paid to the porn star Stormy Daniels to cover up a sex scandal around the 2016 presidential election.)

Okay, so if you’re a President of some county, you can do as you please, because you’re the President. Unless you as selling drugs and they go to the U.S., but if your supporters give Trump a big donation, it’s okay. So I guess Venezuela needs to give Trump a slice of the action?

    11. There’s nothing contradictory about any of this once you stop gaslighting yourself about what this has *literally* always been about.

Personal enrichment and the price tag is our country. That’s it. Always was. Always is. And always will be.

This isn’t some mythical fucking secret that needs to be treated like it’s solving the Grand Unification Theory.

Trump is a criminal. He wants to make himself rich. End of list. Well, ok – one last thing to add…he’s also a child rapist.

Dumpsters reasoning is warped towards whoever gives the most in return for cash. His religion is the US Dollar, bitcoin and crypto. He exploits, as best he can, by acquiring by foul means the wealth of other countries. This is the most corrupt POTUS in history. It’s not going to end until Dumpster incriminates himself beyond the point his proponents are either financially crippled and/or end up being consequentially indicted. Where’s the Epstein files?

    13. CrimsonCouturel on

He keeps saying he’s tough on crime, then turns around and gives a pass to someone convicted of trafficking.
It’s hard to take the threats or the “law and order” talk seriously when the actions don’t match the message.
Well I’m not surprised and you guys shouldn’t be he’s „Trump“

    14. Hernandez trafficked 400 TONS into the US. That’s 800,000 POUNDS of cocaine. Trump is pardoning him. Trump is saying he’s blowing up (illegally) Venezuelans over drugs and now invading… but he’ll pardon Hernandez. Republicans are such fucking assholes.

    15. One paid him and the other didn’t. And the others aren’t even proven drug smugglers so there’s that

Trump displays “contradictions”? Come on NYT, Trump displays his CON. The pardon was paid for.

A little bit more than threatening when people are literally getting double tapped by the strongest military in the world while clinging to the wreckage of the equivalent of a rowboat.
