Erdogan lacks self-awareness about his country’s origins. This is nothing new…..

    2. Truer words have never been spoken. Keep preaching 👑 /s

Edit: I’ll add the “/s” in case you morons couldn’t tell this was sarcasm

    3. He better speak about how his people are literally eating s**t because of the inflation

The only thing about him I want to hear from is when he finally croaks for good.

    5. I dont think his pontic ancestors who were pressured to abandon their sect and become turkified had much of a choice.

And here are some **genocidal statements Erdogan made in public**:

      * „*We’ll bury the contemporary Byzantines. We say No to Aegean and the Mediterranean. From now on, Mitsotakis [Greek PM] is no longer my interlocutor. Why? I deal with people who make politics in a personal way. We are friends with those who are friends with us, but they should know well that we do what is necessary with those who see us as enemies*” – Erdogan at commemoration of the 569th anniversary of the Fall of Constantinople ([Source](https://www.thinkinghumanity.com/2022/06/erdogan-criticised-after-saying-that-turkey-will-bury-contemporary-byzantines.html))

      * „*We do not allow **terrorist leftovers of the sword** in our country,“ he said, „to attempt to carry out [terrorist] activities. Their number has decreased a lot but they still exist.*“ – Erdogan at coronovirus briefing, May 4, 2020 ([Source](https://www.genocidewatch.com/single-post/2020/05/11/turkey-erdogan-uses-leftovers-of-the-sword-anti-christian-hate-speech), [Video](https://youtu.be/8dSE9lzCFeE?si=C4oXoj21rDe2T25R))

      – „**Leftover of the sword**“ (**kılıç artığı** in Turkish) is a commonly used insult in Turkey that often refers to the survivors of the Christian massacres that mainly targeted Armenians, Greeks and Assyrians

      * „*Like we entered Karabakh and Libya – we will do the same to Israel*“ ([Source](https://www.jpost.com/breaking-news/article-812268))

      * And another ridiculous lie – „*Turkey has never committed any civilian massacre in its history and it never will. Our religion and culture would never allow to do it,*“ Erdogan to AK Party assembly, Oct. 16, 2019 – ([Source – Turkish Government Website](https://www.iletisim.gov.tr/english/haberler/detay/When-terrorists-withdraw-operation-ends))

„Except for those pesky genocides, pogroms and massacres.“

I get it, he doesn’t want to address it, wants to whitewash it, if I was him I’d want to whitewash history too.

To be honest I’m not sure what bringing up the genocide really accomplishes, the Turks clearly don’t care, and the rest of the world would rather have good trade relations than take up the mantle of a people who got murdered.

It’s a „laugh with the sinners or cry with the saints,“ situation, not that Armenians are saints necessarily, we’re just on the losing end of a really ugly chapter of history that nobody wants to revisit.

Off the top of my head I can count, like, at least ten events that can prove this statement false. Let’s see:

      1) The Hamidian massacres.

      2) The Armenian genocide.

      3) The Greek genocide.

      4) The Assyrian genocide.

      5) The 1925 Şark Islahat Raporu (Report for Reform in the East) which detailed plans of depopulation and martial law on the Kurdish populated lands.

      6) The massacres of Kurds in Van in 1930 and Dersim in 1938.

      7) The Varlık vergisi (wealth tax), implemented in 1942. Those who failed to pay the absurdly high amount of tax were sent to forced labor camps in eastern Anatolia and many died in the harsh conditions.

      8) The İstanbul pogrom of 1955.

      9) The expulsion of the remaining İstanbul Greeks in 1964.

      10) The Maraş massacre of 1978.

      11) The increased repression of Kurds after the 1980 coup and the banning of the Kurdish language.

      12) The destruction of hundreds of Kurdish villages and the displacement of thousands during the PKK insurgency.

And I say again, these are simply the ones off the top of my head, there are countless more. I haven’t even mentioned the ethnic cleansing of over one hundred thousand Greek Cypriots after the 1974 invasion.

    9. Notice how narratives in Azer_arm align with Turkish ones. Namely that Turks are “indigenous” because they’re mixed with the local populace. Which makes them brotherly to us or soulmates against the Russians

    10. WolfsmaulVibes on

he really can’t make up his mind, his schtick used to be „turkey wasn’t the ottoman empire before its fall“ but now it really is „we did nothing wrong and we don’t regret it“

Y’all remember that Soviet joke about the obituaries?

      I’m waiting on his.
