      There’s nothing advanced about it.

      It’s just… a cringe pod with a projector. Water spray at you like you could’ve done the same with a garden spray/sprinkler. There’s nothing really „automatic“ as actually washing your body, it just turn on the water, that’s it.

      Laundry is the worst example to compare this to… it’s more like the dishwasher machine that you could’ve found on Wish.com.

      It makes sense with Japan’s aging population. It’ll probably be used in spaces like nursing homes.

      My mother has early onset dementia and bathing is the biggest challenge we face, if we could get her to try it this would be a life changer for us.

      This has the makings of a fantastic Black Mirror episode.

      They hype it up – perfectly balanced Ph, soaps and moisturizers infused with the exact minerals and topicals your skin needs after a thorough AI analysis.

      Have a patient obsessed with being clean, who is obsessed with CleanTok, (make a joke about patient ruining their floors doing the Spanish mom cleaning method).

      The patient wants to use it so they can finally feel ‘clean’. So maybe they booked as patient 1? Or maybe they won a contest? Maybe they’re an influencer recording footage?

      Maybe they won a contest to do it for free, since they’re so obsessed with being clean. They’ll try anything to be ‘clean’.

      Just sit back and relax and let the machine cleanse you to perfection for 20 minutes.

      But they keep fiddling with a nozzle, thinking it might be a bit dirty and they NEED to be clean… and end up breaking something.

      Then it starts filling up, the senors are just cheap pieces of plastic to ‘keep it aesthetic’, the emergency stop plunger won’t go down because someone previously took the cap off, cleaned the lubricant off (to keep it clean!), and it seized.

      to cut costs on this expensive machine.

      And it starts filling with water. For 20 minutes.

      Then at the last minute a technician sees her, pries open the hatch, and all the water spills out.

      A few minutes later, the patient interviewed by the spa for their social media account and the patient needs to give a positive review so the patient won’t have to pay for the (very) expensive procedure… that was the deal / part of the contest.

      And it just cuts out there, end the episode.

      The article inevitably leaves out some of the essential details about how it works on specific areas of the body like how it cleans the more delicate bodywork parts.

      It’s weird that these things are announced as if it was a country wide effort. Rather than just a company that happens to be in Japan.

      I wonder if other countries say that the US has just announced a new graphics chip.

      Not an engineer, but looking at the video of this in action, it is hard for me not to be skeptical of this. It looks like just fills with water up to the waist and sprays a little water on top of the person.
