It isn’t „foreign threat“ it’s Japan having terrible cyber security in general. I mean this is the country notorious for putting a guy who never used a computer in charge lol

Does Takaichi know that the election interference by bot farms is exactly the reason why she and her xenophobic policies got so much extra support recently in SNS?

Takaichi is doing exactly what a responsible leader should do in this climate; strengthening Japan’s cyber self-defense before hostile actors make the first move.
With APT groups like Salt Typhoon and Volt Typhoon actively probing telecoms and critical systems across the region, proactive resilience isn’t paranoia, it’s basic national security…. if not just plain common sense.

New cybersecurity strategy? Coming from the place where *“Japan has officially stopped using floppy disks in its government systems as of July 2024”*.
I think it’s close to impossible for Japan to adapt to new tech, and by “new” I mean post-2015 tech. Can they even dream of stopping the use of Windows 7?

Just slap the word „foreign“ on anything you don’t like, is that it?
