Good removing them only makes the flag seem like a racist one. It’s our flag, fly it in the capital as much as you want

If arseholes want to erect the flag for the ‚wrong‘ reasons, that doesn’t change the fact that it’s still our flag and it flying in public shouldn’t be an issue. There are 2 main sides on this shambles.
The right wingers who are trying to hijack the flag and give it a reputation similar to the English flag.
The left wingers who seem to hate the Irish flag and already see it having the same reputation as the English flag.

Honestly why remove it and make it about anti immigration propaganda. We just embrace it for unity and everyone moves on. Maybe we put more up!
When your own national flag is being seen as a hate symbol it’s a sign that you have been invaded.

Saw on of the donkeys with one flying on his car yesterday. As a nationalist I found it damn insulting! If you’re going to fly our nations flag then give it the respect it deserves. This particular scrote was flying a ripped and dirty flag which is a disrespectful thing to do. Not hard to spot the ones hung in hate. They leave them there to rot.
I think coming from a Canadian living here. I love seeing the tricolour, I don’t see it as offensive at all.

Even before all the far right an anti immigrant stances,I always thought as a natuon we were too shy in having our national flag being flown.
I prefer the terms „pro-underpopulation“, and „pro-stagnation“. Just saying they’re anti-immigration doesn’t properly highlight how destructive they are.
In that case can the cunts who put them up replace their weathered Temu flags with new ones.
Places of Dublin that already show their age, now look ten times worse with shite quality flags hanging on for their lives.
Why is this even a discussion? It’s a bizarre premise. Just because some anti-immigration protesters try to attach a certain meaning to the Irish flag doesn’t mean the entire country has to accept or adopt that meaning.
No surprise that it was Labour, Fine Gael etc asking for them to be removed. Not a brain cell between the lot of them.
As an immigrant in one of these areas covered by flags, I could not care less about people waving any flag they want, but the meaning behind it is off-putting. It is basically telling immigrants that they are not welcome in that area and the lack of a response from DCC is empowering them. I do not think DCC is doing enough to send a message to immigrants that they are welcome and safe from these groups in these areas.
It’s also kind of sad that the Irish flag is becoming a symbol of the far right. I do not think most people waving Irish flags at their homes share this mindset, and I don’t think we should let a minority taint the flag’s meaning.
My take on that is just own them. If they want to spend time and money erecting flags, let them off. It’s the flag for all of us Irish, whatever our origin, skin colour or religion, so they’re doing us a favour.
If you run into someone erecting one, just thank them, and tell them how your husband/wife, who is a new citizen from wherever feels really welcome when they see all the flags…🇮🇪🤣🇮🇪🤣
What they should have done was buy 5,000 tricolours and distributed them to community groups across the city. Then made an advertising campaign called “Welcome to Ireland” that depicts the people from these community groups from all backgrounds putting up the flags in their local areas.
Drown out the hate with the true republican meaning of the flag.

Last year. A old racist boomer crank on my street had tricolours hanging off a rear wiper on one of his many fixer-uppers cars. I cut them off and have three of them as trophies in a drawer in my shed. If any end up on lampposts im cutting them down too. The council should be taking down the flags. It’s a foreigners-out signal. There’s indian and Chinese families with young kids on my street. I am not having racist symbols hanging around. The council personnel are racist in my book for not removing them. Cowards. Anyone advocating for leaving them up are fucking idiots/cowards/racist.
Let’s get a few other nice flags up beside them on special occasions … During pride .. let’s put the pride flag up beside them … When something happens in Ukraine or Palestine.. up beside them .. hell get the EU flag up beside them.
Let’s keep the beaning behind our flag .. Ireland .. a respectful peace loving place
