    1. They need to pay for their infrastructure. It shouldn’t be on the taxpayer to provide them the necessary energy to power their financial ventures. Especially given they will ultimately take a lot of jobs away from said taxpayers.

The more disturbing issue is Altman whinging about cheap energy destroying his projected profits (which he’s still not making).

He’s openly stating these companies have a vested interest in keeping energy costs high because of contract obligations.

    3. CEO: I bet the company on a new machine and forgot to buy fuel for it.

Board: This is the part where you decide to spend more time with your family.

    4. You want to know what that means? It means your energy bill is going up! (the way you get more power out of the existing infrastructure, is to squeeze existing users to curtail existing demand, you do that by increasing demand charges- so the data center can get a bigger share of that demand).

Yet another article that fails to actually talk about the entire context of this comment.

I want consumer power subsidized with an energy tax that super heavy corporations pay on energy consumption. That way customers see even bills that won’t creep up from their ridiculous ventures.

This is the magical AI era we are entering where

      1) residents are priced out of power and water

      2) residents are told to conserve water to give it to AI data centers

      3) we loose more jobs to AI

    8. Man, fuck everyone that was bitching about „EVs not being viable because the grid couldn’t handle the extra load“…
