When your only combat training is watching Rambo

If this was from Iraq War, where USA and allied countries invaded Iraq, can people fighting against the invaders be considered “insurgents”? Maybe militia?

EDIT: ah, this is from 2009, after the invasion and re-establishment of Iraqi government. So yes, these would be insurgents.
