Vermont used to be the most Republican state in presidential elections. It still has a moderate GOP governor.

Blue coasts, red middle. Shocker. We’ve never seen this map before.

For some reason I was not expecting that about Montana or Massachusetts or Pennsylvania.
How does Pennsylvania so reliably go Dem for governor but always swing for President?

Pennsylvania and I’m still perplexed how we went for tRump twice.

Crazy how North Carolina is at the same level as New York or California. Although the last Republican nominee in 2024 was really fucking out there to put it kindly

Governor *can* be a less nationalized, less ideological office than Congress or President so you see a lot of possibly unexpected voting against party lean.
Massachusetts elected a whole string of Republican governors in the 1990s and 2000s, and it started with an election in which the Republican was arguably the more liberal candidate. These days the state party has gone more MAGA so their candidates don’t win.

Is it any wonder to people that the 6/6 red are all states that are severely fucked up?

There are still a lot of sane Republicans in New England who are not MAGA Christian nationalists.
Sound policy still wins elections like with Charlie Baker.
