During the Siege of Sarajevo, the longest siege of a
capital city in modern European history, ordinary
      apartments became makeshift fortresses. The
photograph captures a small Bosnian sniper team
gathered inside a high rise living room, surrounded by
the simple furniture of civilian life. The couches have
been pushed and angled to create a stable firing res t
for the SVD Dragunov rifle. At the center is Nadia
Jeriagic, her posture steady, her face set with calm
concentration. Behind her, the rest of the team leans
over maps, binoculars, and a battered radio as they
track the movement of enemy forces below
Scenes like this were common throughout the siege.

    2. Wearing civilian clothing of course. And then you get western media talking how the Serbs are shooting at civilians. Straight from the Hamas playbook in Gaza (no surprise, Hamas fought in this war too, against the Serbs).

    3. Who were they shooting at, was it serbians up the hill side? Looks like he’s aiming at an elevated position.

I’ve been to Bosnia and I can confirm that this is in fact an average Sunday family dinner set up.

Don’t be the last to arrive.
