The streets that are torn up with pot holes, cracks and are falling apart? Those streets? I’ll tell you something, I lived in Montreal for 3 years and visited hundreds of times before and after I lived there. I’ve never seen „street prayers“, but I’ve seen the shitty roads and bridges, and construction that never seems to finish. Perhaps they should reassess their priorities.
I do not care about street prayer in the slightest but they should ban those annoying proselytizers. Why are they only going after the most controversial possible group instead of ones that people would agree with? The CAQ doesn’t care about laicite, they just hope they can use it to draw attention away from their neoliberal/conservative economic destruction of our quality of life.
Thank god no more listening about how I need to repent or face gods wrath when I am just trying to get to the bank. We are talking about those Christian street preachers as well
Eh religion should be a personal affair regardless imho. I do believe in freedom of religion; I also think though that that freedom doesn’t mean you get to push it into the publics faces
I actually have never seen any open prayers in public from Muslims in any part of Canada.. not saying it doesn’t happen; I’ve just never seen it
But at the end of the day; Québec’s secular laws are pretty obvious to most folks, even those outside of Québec. Doesn’t shock me that they want to enforce those laws. Why even have them if they aren’t even enforced or taken seriously, begs the question.
I’m totally for this. All the comments about potholes and road maintenance are just reaching for reasons not to like it. It’s about preventing people from using religion as an excuse to block roads and walkways seriously why would you be against that.
