
Hallo. Meine Urgroßmutter lebte während und nach dem Krieg in Assmannshausen und Frankfurt. Sie kaufte dieses Landschaftsgemälde 1946 von einem amerikanischen GI.
Kann jemand helfen herauszufinden, woher diese Szene stammen könnte? Für mich sieht es aus wie Westdeutschland oder möglicherweise sogar die Niederlande.

Due to the thatched roofs and flat landscape, it’s most likely in northern Germany. However, I see no features that help to pinpoint it more exactly.
I would bet on Northern Germany. Especially on the North Sea and towards the Wadden Sea. It often looks like that there.
For me, the White House speaks against the Netherlands. They have more houses made of bricks, you see these white houses with reed roofs more on the German side.
You probably won’t be able to find the exact location anymore, the landscape changes so much there.
It is definitely north Germany or maybe even Denmark

Schleswig-Holstein west coast would be my guess. Flat landscape, white house and reed roof are pretty common here. But impossible to say more.
