Absolutely insane how much more this asshole cares about his ballroom than anything else.

    2. Daily beast, please, you’re not bringing „Bonkers“ back. Just stop.

Edit: You have at least 4 headlines with „Bonkers“ in them, just in a *day.*

    3. So basically Trump wants to double the size of the ballroom from existing plans (which were already ludicrous). That’d make it bigger than the white house itself.

      >!Trump has a teeny tiny penis!<

    4. The ballroom is nothing but a smokescreen for what he is building underneath

    5. If the ballroom ever gets built the architect will live in infamy from all involved for the rest of his life.

edit: It’s a maga architect: James McCrery II founder of McCrery Architecture, specializing in Third Reich inspired creations and grift

He also wants a chandelier in the oval office, which he was told that it was too heavy and would fall, ie crushing him if that were to happen.

„Donald Trump planned to install a chandelier in the Oval Office, but White House staff reportedly stopped the project because the ceiling was not structurally sound enough to hold the weight.“

I still think he’s going to try and do it. Knowing how stubborn he is if he wants it enough he’s going to find someone who will do it regardless of the risk.

Is this ballroom going to be made out of food? Can we eat it or will it somehow lower the runaway cost of goods? Because if it doesn’t we are going to have a problem.

    8. He destroyed the East Wing before plans for its replacement were final. Brilliant. My prediction: nothing will ever get built there.

It’s never going to get built and he’ll just pocket the money

    10. Trump’s „ballroom“ addition isn’t a ballroom. It’s a throne room. I have no doubt that Trump plans to eventually tear down the rest of the White House and replace it with a gaudy imperial palace of Trump with the „ballroom/throne room“ as the centrepiece of the whole disgusting complex.

Even if it does get built, he will be out of office. The republicans will be out of office and there will just be this big, giant ugly boondoggle tacky white whale thing partially built on the white house grounds. Glad our nation lets him get away with it

      He’s building a mausoleum.

Mark my words. He knows he’s dying and wants to be interred in this ballroom so they can never tear it down.

Most of the time when you build a giant event space, it’s because you are going to hold a lot of events there. I’m assuming they can’t since it’s connected to the White House and would be a huge security risk. They will build a 90,000 sf space but it will sit empty all but two or three times a year for special White House events. But it will still need to be secured and maintained all year long. More drain to our money.

This is why every other president held their events in a tent next to the White House.

Anything built there is going to be so slapdash and shoddy we’ll be spending hundreds of millions of dollars either tearing it down and replacing it or shoring up it.

    15. Sounds like another contractor is not going to be paid for their services. It’s the Trump way.

    16. We, The People of The United States of America, should SUE Trump for the damage to The People’s House. It is not his property! He resides there at the pleasure of The People.

Does the architect not realize that his career is no longer considered professional??

    18. 5minArgument on

      There’s an architect?! WTF?

My suspicion is they used AI to make some general style renderings for PR, then demo’d the East Wing and are just now looking for an architect to catch up after the fact.

This architect/firm should expect to lose their license or licenses for approving and starting a historical project without plans or review. Even if technically the WH stands outside of a review process, the project is a total assault on the profession.

They should also expect a professional shunning.

    19. Call me overzealous, but a Democratically aligned super PAC should be running ads in the close 2026 Senatorial states right now featuring the juxtaposition of this ballroom with what Americans are dealing with price wise. Seems like a no brainer to start the conditioning now ahead of the midterms. Put it on during the Thanksgiving football games.

So you’re telling me that the plans for the ballroom weren’t even finalized, and they just went and demolished an entire wing of the White House?

      Dude.

Nothing is more emblematic of the Republican mindset than this right here. Destroy what exist without having any finalized idea of what to replace it with.

I just want to read the headline „Trump, 79/80, found dead in his office“

      Shit, this is getting exhausting

    24. I am Canadian, our previous prime minister got roasted for months because he got a second nanny. I can’t even imagine what it must be like to have people literally starving in the streets of your country while your president spends unchecked millions on a ballroom.

I know this looks bad…but Kamala had a weird laugh (and ovaries), so it all evens out, amirite MAGA?
