If you are uncomfortable drinking near the speed limit on primary roads with a 100km limit, then at least pull over and let people pass you… Sick of sitting in a string of traffic on a good road doing 60,
Then theres the people doing 60 until you attempt to over take them and suddenly their foot starts working again.
And my favourite is those who drive at 70, on the motorway its 70, 100 zone, its 70, 80 zone its 70, 50 zone its 70…..

‘..you have a person who is very diffident, very nervous and is going along at 60km/ph, they might say in their own head, ‘I’m driving legally, I’m below the speed limit.’
But the build up behind them, it may be the fault of the eejit who does take the risk, but you’re creating a circumstance where somebody behind you will take the risk’
It still doesn’t wash! He’s blaming person A for person B becoming impatient.
At the end of the day traffic happens and it’s up to you to weigh up the risks and to drive safely. You can’t say you took a risk of broke the speed limit, but it’s not your fault because somebody driving slowly made you do it.
This is absolute bullshit, it’s not even research. It’s the opinion of a guy who reads the traffic on the radio.
🙄 only Newstalk would actually think that this is news. Somebody at Newstalk is probably sick of sitting in traffic and has this opinion, went and asked Conor Faughnan if he agrees, then wrote this down.

Finally. I was waiting for the news related to turtle drivers.
But the number one reason why they are dangerous is… The majority of them are distracted – on their phone. Not nervous. That’s why they are driving slow in the first place.

I’m sorry, but his logic is that someone behind will drive dangerously to compensate. It’s fairly weak logic.
Slow drivers are annoying
If you are behind the wheel of a car and you are triggered into fury by a slow driver, u need to reflect on that.
1. No matter where you are, there will be slow drivers. You might as well get angry every time u see a red car
2. Some people have shitty old person reflexes. It’s their job to drive to their ability. You can’t force all old people off roads. With the demographics, it will get worse.
A car is a dangerous thing
If you are getting stressed and angry driving, you are just a weak minded emotional dufus. Accept that the world is full of slow drivers and bad drivers and good drivers who occasional make a bad mistake. Then chill out and you’ll enjoy driving more and be safer.

It’s shocking how many slow drivers there are on the motorway in the passing lane. Either not paying attention to their speed or just oblivious to how motorway driving is supposed to work.
Zipper merge? Forget it.
The worst part is that they all think they are driving more safe, 80 in a 120 for example. Someone gets up to them, brakes, person behind them brakes, person behind them brakes hard, then they get hit from behind.
The dangerous slow driver continues on their merry way, completely unaware of the damage in their wake.
Motorway driving should be part of the road test.

The denial in some of these comments is outrageous. Look at the recent reports of road traffic deaths, sometimes incidents with multiple fatalities. These were all down to excess speed. I have never heard of an incident where too little speed caused more than an inconvenience. There can be slow drivers, cyclists, horses and pedestrians on the road and drivers have to look out for them all. It is the responsibility of all drivers to ensure that they drive within their abilities and within the restrictions placed by road conditions and other road users. Slow drivers are not dangerous drivers.

This is just nonsense bluster to get headline.
I’m a fast enough driver, and slow drivers irritate the hell out of me, but there are precious few scenarios where they can be blamed for someone else making a dangerous overtake.
The fact is, the RSA don’t have a breeze as to the causes of collision – that goes for speeding at well as slow drivers. I’ve actually requested information from them and they claim not to have it. *That* is the real issue here – because we can never address road deaths if we don’t understand the root cause.

I drive the N13 and N15 as part of my commute to work. Outside of the stretch of road between the Letterkenny/Convoy/Ballybofey junction and the run down to Ballybofey which should arguably be brought down to 80kph since it’s winding with poor sight lines and no hard shoulders, there is next to no excuse for a competent driver to not be able to safely drive the 100kph limit that is on the majority of that route.
If you insist on driving slow then pull over regularly to let the train past, or give enough space for people to pass safely when there’s a clear stretch of road. Causing a train during morning or evening rush hour, especially when driving conditions are good is the absolute height of ignorance. End of the day we expect tractors to pull over when safe to do so, the same expectation should be put on other slow traffic.
