  1. Our troops should not be prosecuted in a Japanese court. He should be trialed in an American court. The DoD and State Department dropped the ball here.

That is most likely a untruth, everyone would remember it unless they were under some type of a controlled substance

Yeah right, must be something in the water than since its not only him doing this. For some reason a lot of rape occurs there from US soldiers. I heard stories (dont know if true) that it even happens on base. Between soldiers…

This is an ongoing problem that command can fix by being harsh. Japanese people have dealt with enough and now we rape their children. It’s just vile. Many don’t report because it’s hard to get this far.

  9. What a Pos. When my buddy was stationed at Yokota they had to do monthly SA is bad meetings because all the marines getting drunk and raping the locals in Okinawa. This loser should be locked away and forgotten

  10. Does he remember choking and stomping on the woman that tried to help victim of his rape?

Of all the defenses why would he go with the “I don’t remember anything so I can’t refute it defense?” The military has stopped letting being drunk be a defense for crimes. I remember one guy in my unit getting in trouble for harassing another unit member while at a club. When questioned he tried this defense. They threw the book at him because he couldn’t deny it. They added on more charges for having a drinking problem.

NAHA, Japan – A U.S. Marine stationed in Okinawa said Tuesday he could not recall any incident involving sexual assault and injury in a U.S. military base restroom in March, speaking at the first hearing of his trial at a Japanese district court.

Private First Class Austin Wedington, 28, who appeared at the Naha District Court, is among four U.S. service members indicted over separate sexual violence cases in the southern island prefecture that have come to light since June last year.

According to the indictment and other sources, Wedington choked a female civilian worker in a base lavatory before sexually assaulting her against a stall door, then choked and stomped on the face of another woman on March 18.

Prosecutors said during the hearing that the defendant climbed a wall to enter the lavatory compartment where the worker was and assaulted her, covering her mouth as she shouted for help.

The defense said it will contest some of the alleged acts, including the sexual assault and the stomping of the woman who tried to rescue the worker.
