What a completely depressing piece. AI screening, AI interviews, what’s even the point? Disappointed there was no push back from Katie Hannon as well. Send an email to the company if you think you’ve been unfairly screened out by the AI? So you can get an AI answer I suppose. Are you having a laugh?

How do we get past this? theres dozens of startups where you put in a job spec and your CV and they give you back the CV ideal for the job spec.
She suggests maximising the CV for the job but thats literally the problem. Anyone making a CV sticks in a bunch of tech needed. Often things that basically contradict each other.
Expert in Windows and Linux and Debian.
In a job that involves using an OS not using 2 of them.
And before this checking incoming CVs would tell the employeer that they had asked for something that is very rare. Now the CV bot just makes it look like you have a 100 candidates that match your weird ‚Must have 10 years experience with Fifa 2025‘ criteria and actual people are missed.

3 out of 4 people “feel” they’ve been unfairly screened out by AI – do we have any actual data or are we just scare mongering? How many of those asked were actually screened by AI versus how many think they were?
I work in recruitment, have done for years, so do all my friends – very few companies are screening via AI.

It’s been tough getting interviews. I’ve had to apply for work outside my qualifications just to get interviews and it’s depressing. Makes it all feel worthless.

If this is actually a thing it would be hilarious to add a prompt injection in hidden text on your CV

Was in an online course with HR professionals (I’m a neurodiversity researcher) and one of them was talking about their use of AI screening for grad programmes. She stated that as part of their grad screening process the model is told to discard any CVs that don’t have a 2.1. As someone with a 1.1 I have been strangely disregarded immediately from job apps; so I asked her if you’re only looking for a 2.1, what about people with a 1.1 and she couldn’t answer me, told me she would check 😅

Had this interaction with company, submitted my CV to them for open job got rejected in a hour said fair enough not meant to be, 2 hours later I get a messge from senior HR manager asking me if im interested in the role and I just got rejected for saying I would be great fit for the role, ask me to set up interview with one of the internal recruiters for this role, so I book some time with the recruite, few days go by and i get an email from the recuriter i set up the call with going who are you? I tell him senior manager asked me to set up a call with you get quick response saying „my bad I was out on PTO for a weeks and just got back today i didn’t see the email for the manger“ so nobody looked at the my CV at all at company was just AI, after that I just started messing with the AI any job I got rejected very quickly like that I just made AI clean up the CV to match it perfectly to that role till it was accepted and recruiter reached out to me

Remember reading that some manager in a company applied for a role in his company that he was extremely qualifed for with his own C.V. and got auto rejected by the Human Resources A.I.
Three months he was looking for that role to be filled and HR just kept saying no one that applied is qualified or meets the criteria to pass initial screening.

300+ words and mulitple questions like this for your application, of course one will write zombie mode responses with AI assistance, just as they screen with AI assistance.
Unforch, this is the result of being able to fire a CV from across the world and having so much standardization of applicant’s CVs and employers processes. Its one of these weird things in the modern economy where convenience on both ends has actually bloated the hell out of the experience to the point, maybe the old skool of having to walk to the office, shake hands with a hiring manger , make small talk for a minute is a better first screening than the modern way. Would save us all effort, of reading / writing AI assisted sludge at least
