All reasons for me to switch, even as basic user.
If you are not convinced then install o&o shutup 10++ and check which settings are enabled by default, its horrible.
MS serves an inferior product while at the same time reducing privacy. Thirty percent of code by AI? No thanks, I’d prefer if Windows Explorer didn’t crash every 24 hours. Want to force me to register and stay logged into an MS account to use an OS? Oh that’s a „buh bye“ for me.
As much as I’m a Linux nerd, that is not accurate information. Firstly, ZorinOS still doesn’t have a streamlined upgrade path, leading people to download a new ISO for the new Zorin version if they want to update their systems. Secondly, not all downloads mean people will stick, some people are just testing things out on VMs, or try it out and go back to Windows, etc. And lastly, I don’t have anything more to say, that’s it.
I’m honestly just being lazy about being switching, it seems like windows gets worse every time they update something.
Picking a distro is a bit of a nightmare, which is a big reason why.

Any shred of credibility MS had died with them releasing Windows 11. They committed to continuously updating 10 rather than release Windows 11, then they released Windows 11.
I have been working on switching as well, granted I’m planning on going to mint
My dad has W10 on his computer. He says he needs to upgrade because of them ending support but I’m not going to do it for him. I’m going to put on an easy to use distro for him. He just uses it to read the news and watch videos
Zorin is really great for switching to Linux from Windows. Even my elderly parents could use it immediatly without any complains after I surprise installed it for them on their old Windows 10 Laptop.
780k is nothing compared to the windows 11 install base. Like literally nothing. A rounding error.
What’s the learning curve for Linux? Might consider it
If people are truly switching to Linux but not upgrading their hardware…then they will find out the hard way what TPM 2.0 means and that Linux is also vulnerable.
If they’re getting new hardware then cool! Learning Linux isn’t a bad thing. It’s going to be more of a learning curve than upgrading to Windows 11 though.

I’ve also seen a number of posts of people swapping to Linux, getting confused, wondering why stuff isn’t working then switching back. There just isn’t a good option normal users anymore
