Look, I vote NDP and Liberal, and I accept climate science. We need to quit fossil fuels entirely. *But since we’re not going to do that tomorrow, why would we enrich countries with clear human rights violations instead of using our own oil?* I’ve never understood this.
Like, if you smoke, you should quit. But if you’re not ready to quit, which makes more sense:
1. Using cigarettes from the huge stockpile you have in your shed, or
2. Buying cigarettes from a shady guy who hits his wife?
Eby needs to stop playing politics with national interest projects like pipelines. Eby would rather the Saudis and the Americans get richer rather than Canadian oil be competitive in non-US markets.
There simply HAS to be a solution to this issue. There are smart people in the room. This shouldn’t be that hard.
Too late, the pipeline has already been approved, funded, and built. That was the only talk that was going to happen.
This is the problem with having too big a country with too many interest groups fighting over everything. No wonder we are so unproductive. We are our own worst enemy
If BC wants to be included then BC needs to stop being the forces of no.
We cannot keep doing this as a country, its utterly exhausting. BC’s environmental left are downright zealots about sabotaging infrastructure and it’s just annoying at this point.
I would absolutely love nothing more than a cooperative, pragmatic, and reasonable British Columbia to deal with. Unfortunately when they hear the word “pipeline” its like waving a red flag in the face of a bull.
And for the records, Alberta’s right wing nut jobs are every bit as annoying, petulant, and exhausting but they are two wings on the same tired old bird we need to move past.
