In the East Midlands and South Yorkshire regions of England it’s a term of endearment/deference. Completely different linguistic root but charming nonetheless.

The Finnish word *ankka* means a domesticated duck and is an obvious loan word from Swedish. If talking about wild ducks or e.g. ‚dabblind ducks‘ then we call them *puolisukeltaja****sorsa***. Wiktionary says *sorsa* is of [proto-Finnic origin](https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Reconstruction:Proto-Finnic/sorsa), mentioned in the individual roots, but further origin is unknown.
