      Wicked: For Good, the second film in a two-part series based on the hit Broadway musical, collected $150 million in ticket sales in its first weekend in US cinemas, a welcome hit for theaters after a dry spell the past couple months.

      The new picture from Comcast Corp.’s Universal Pictures scored the second-best opening weekend sales of the year after the April release A Minecraft Movie from Warner Bros. Discovery Inc.’s film studio, and Universal’s best opening weekend in a decade. Industry tracker Boxoffice Pro had forecast sales of at least $145 million.

      My screening was full and I’m happy some films are still bringing in big business these days. On a side note I really can’t stand busy cinemas anymore, people suck so bad at just shutting up and watching a film

      Femme focused event filmmaking is still largely untapped. Wicked is largely doing well for the same reasons that Barbie did well. Women and their gays will make an evening of things if you give them a reason to do so.
