One can’t keep pretending it’s just a mistake as a result of gun culture, poor educational systems, and an overbearing religious system, but somehow the US will come to its senses „before it’s too late“ when they see how awful Trump is. It’s the second time they put this guy in power (somehow), and the US populace knew what he had done before but voted for him again. The rich and powerful within the US knew, yet they deliberately handed him money and empowered Trump’s regime. Yes, China is a dictatorship, but this is a time for Canada to examine all options – China and beyond. It’s time to reduce reliance on any one trading partner and increase national self reliance. Canada cannot afford to shy away from deals in the national interest just because the US may not like it. The US would prefer Canada to give up its nationhood, and will continue to try and „own“ Canada indirectly through economics if they can’t take the country by force.
