Valve is the perfect example of a successful company staying in their lane and just doing what they do well. So many companies are just too greedy and always want more and it inevitably leads to their failure

What’s Gabe’s salary ratio to the average non-exec employee salary?

  3. It’s great to see a company apparently happy to generate enough money, instead of the typical move which is to do an IPO and go public. Sure the short terms gains are great, but eventually the company loses its soul on the path to perpetual, endless double digit growth.

Now they can do what the fuck they want, still make bank, and provide a great service.

I wish more CEOs would see that. Probably not what they teach in business school.

  4. Do they pay their employees dirt like the rest of the gaming industry? To most all software developers, the gaming industry is notorious for absolutely atrocious pay, but I don’t know anything about the pay ethics over at Valve. Maybe, hopefully, they’re an exception.

Edit: it’s funny that people are down voting a pretty simple question. Maybe some douchebag game CEOs don’t like that I shit on their low pay, or they want to bury the answers below about Valve actually paying great. Lol. Suck it, low-paying game Cos. Your boos mean nothing; I’ve seen what makes you cheer.

  5. Despite their profitability Valve is apparently a very frustrating and difficult place to work.

  6. Valve is not a public company so take these numbers with a huge grain of salt because its from someone’s ass

This is what happens when you do everything right

When it comes to PC gaming / software, Microsoft is a train wreck and so is Amazon.

I love Steam. They aren’t in the news buying up game companies only to disband them, closing games down, etc. Windows 12 is supposed to be in your face fulltime AI 24/7

Steam OS is amazing with no tracking. It doesn’t capture and sell your data, etc.

I hope Steam OS is what all hardcore gamers move to.

We should all judge companies by who can make the most revenue with the fewest employees

It’s literally a monopoly that forces anti-competitive agreements on developers. You wonder why recent games are shit? Who wants to fork over 30% of their creation for what amounts to an ancient forum and shopping cart experience? Steam is ripe with scammers, thieves, hate groups, casinos… I hope the EU busts them up just like they did Google and Apple since America is basically a lost cause of billionaire worshipping bimbo people.
