Probably glad by then to get it over with.
A century after reading poems about stomping through the mud of Verdun, we now get to see it from the sky.
In case I’m ever enveloped in some time warp – body swap situation, is it fine if I discard all my weapons and hold my undershirt up and expect to be captured, or would someone be fucked either way?
If you have ever had to wade or walk through sopping mud like this then you know that shit exhausts you so fast.
I can only imagine the internal struggle going through their mind after all the exhaustion, lack of food and water, the undoubtedly rank smell and fear of death waiting for them. Sucking their last gasp of air begging to see the land they called home…

Is it normal that in a battle of attrition men walk alone like this? Should this be a group with cover. How come they are alone?
At least that would have been quick….

And judging by the terrain his remains could sink into the mud and not be discovered for centuries
