Is the sky falling and armageddon being unleashed?

Or at least that’s what I hear happens from conservatives whenever a social program that benefits the poor is newly implemented.

    2. We should fund and nurture what we value.

This is a no brainer – kids, all kids, need our greatest investment.

If we hold this up as our standard then we can really see if politicians can support it with legislative action.

I will be watching with great interest. This is something that the wealthiest nation on earth should offer to everyone.

This is something that actually helps everyday Americans, so every Republican will oppose it.

Free childcare is so amazing because it’s finally attempting to de-externalize this idea that childcare is a choice. And also recognizing that providing high quality childcare to all provides wide ranging societal benefits and tangible value.

I think ideally we live in a world where we build cities to be support more multi-generational housing and mixed income neighborhoods which would allow more parents to live near their own parents (grandparents) who can watch children. Bring back the idea that it takes a village. And also income inequality doesn’t just mean too many billionaires but also working class isn’t getting paid enough. Single income households isn’t the historical norm (just mid-20th century America). But given productivity gains of workers, it should be more common than it is. We should be supporting the ideal that like a few of the neighborhood parents getting together and watching all the neighborhood kids together is a valuable use of labor vs the professionalized and sterile childcare that many kids get.

All these things together would make us a much nicer society to live in.

This has the potential to be so good for the economy and more importantly the people.

I don’t have kids. I’m never going to have kids. But this is the sort of thing I want to see my tax dollars going for. It’s a fundamental part of a strong social safety net. Strong social safety net + affordable/free education at all levels is really how we make this country great.

Paid for by big paid oil and gas proceeds who the dems here hate but spend it so freely

We got an Alaskan type stimulus check one year for all working residents from oil And gas proceeds. But they had to squash that when they made college free

Taxpayers are funding this. Let’s hope it changes our last place ranks

Many get free schooling and bounce to green pastures.

We’ve had one grt decrease of like 0.025% after all this. Only one year decreasing property taxes.

Free school isn’t so nice now that these kids have to pay 40-60% higher rental rates thanks to outside the state corporate entities buying up all these apartments.

      Lots and lots of spending.

To add, the current waitlists are pretty long. Supply won’t really match demand. Many daycare facilities do not want to take part in this.

It all sounds grand in theory but living here, we’ve had so many promises fail us. I don’t see this lasting too long

Free childcare just means over sectors will suck us dry since we have a so called ‘extra $800’. It happened with free college as everything else eclipsed the norm and students still couldn’t afford a place without working 40 years. Who wants free college when the reality is pretty stark? It’s not a leg up like everyone just assumes happens with handouts.
