True but people can’t afford beef currently. Will this offer a cheaper alternative?
Serious beef happening
Which works out at 259 grams per person per year.
Same fake drama every year.
This is International trade which is why regulations and laws, holding products to a standard is all the more important.
I will still stay with Irish beef. If no-one buys the imported beef, then the problem will solve itself.
Like….mad cows ?
They’ll sell out the Irish farming industry so they can sell more cars into South America.
And when South America gets to sell more into the EU, they’ll cut down more of the Amazon to turn it into agricultural land.
You might not buy this meat, but other companies will to put them into ready-meals, and you might not know what chippers and restaurants are using.
People won’t like to hear this, but this is how we reduce grocery prices, competition & global trade. As long as products properly declare their origins I’ve no problem with this
Ultimately the EU is now desperate to access Mercosur for industrial exports and raw material imports and to generally boost trade, it’s become more urgent as the U.S. has destabilised world trade and Chinese competition is squeezing European manufacturing hard. Agriculture is being balanced against that and so are environmental concerns. That’s the reality of it.
The EU is also moving to massively soften data protection laws and AI regulations, and digital regulation with that digital omnibus simplification and consolidation legislation coming though – that’s basically down to having even whacked over the head by Trump and big tech.
Makes no sense to import beef like this and smother our own market unless ofc that’s the whole idea behind it 🤔
