This is great, it’s the F-35 debate but on a tiny scale. Although I find myself on the opposite side on this one: let them have their desired tubes! For myself I think it’s a combination of the comparatively low procurement cost and somewhat more sympathy for operational concerns: seeing in the dark seems like a more pressing and practically useful ability for the CF versus being able to deeply penetrate Chinese airspace
I am so tired of these money grabbing complaints. Better gear is better for the troops period. Higher noise ratio, means way better picture.

and yet, there are plenty of companies that are able to meet the 33 SNR, just a quick google search proved that.
