Apparently their desperation to save money was a lot stronger than their need to innovate. Those with brains, advanced skill set and experience are usually the highest paid, therefore the first to be gone. Sigh
Any word on when that trillion dollar corporate tax cut bill from earlier in the year is going to start trickling down?
It’s unfortunate making non-compete agreements illegal was blocked last year. Some percentage of all these people being laid off could’ve started competing businesses if not for America’s continued disdain for competition in the free market.
Seem like there are a lot of unemployed skilled tech workers at the moment. Perhaps they are cutting what they feel are the weaker ones and being able to find other talented workers for a lower cost.
I’ve got nothing to base this on, but just speculating.
Got to keep those stocks rising there is no other way to measure progress.
They’re innovating on new ways to run lean.
The more data centers and fancy gig Amazon is building, the more it will fire. It’s easier to move money from CapEx to OpEx without impacting the company’s profit. And it’s not an AI bubble…yet. Because Amazon and Oracle have high demand for providing infrastructure.

The economy is going to be fucking brutalized by this unemployment increase. This isnt just your average minimum wage workers, these are people who built their lives around $100k+ paychecks that are now going to get a fraction of that and go into a work force that either isnt hiring or wont even begin to offer similar options or roles.
Spending this time next year is going to absolutely fall off a cliff.
They are hiring a lot in Latin America
