I can kinda understand his thinking. The LPC can only fail upwards so long and once the NDP has a new leader (some very solid candidates imo) they will take votes away and maybe the CPC can sneak in. I don’t think he’s going anywhere he will pass the leadership review
He is literally the most unlikable Canadian politician that I can remember.
I get not liking Trudeau because of his policies but he didn’t seem like a jerk.
Conversly, a politician doesn’t have to be likable if they have policies that people agree with but PP didn’t seem to have the personality or policies people like.
PP just gives me the I like to kick puppies vibe.
I think that conservative/right-leaning politicians have shifted to see their leaders simply as tools to invoke change.
They don’t care about personality, methods, corruption, morality, but simply care if their tool can get them what they want.
This is especially true in the US of course, but it’s also affected Canadian conservatives.
He has very few other options than “stay in parliament and yell at Liberals.”
He has no private sector work experience or transferable skills, unless your workplace is a factory building ragefarms.
