Most people : Why? We didn’t ask for this.
Tech bros : You’ll see, once you get used to it, you’ll be able to ingore it.
Other tech bro : Also, unrelated note, we need to increase country’s power output by 250% to keep up with AI „demand“ and we don’t want to pay for it.

I guess shortly after this map was created, Meta announced a [4 million square foot data center](https://datacenters.atmeta.com/richland-parish-data-center/) in Louisiana, which I think will make it the 3rd largest in the US by size, and second largest by power capacity. The electric company is building 3 additional power plants to accommodate it.

That area in nova looks like an industrial wasteland. Luckily its by dulles so its to be expected but its funny driving through their and seeing industrial wasteland while people chugging along in their Cayennes and 7 series.
They HATE them on r/nova, actually commented on a post earlier about this very thing.

Current in a county where we’re actively attempting to block the builds of two or three within a relatively short distance apart from each other. Our governor here in PA is fully ready and has sold the entire population of PA up the river for a datacenter buck. Craziness.
