Well yeah, but if you owe the bank $10Billion, there’s an argument to be had that YOU own the bank. If you were to default, the bank might have a tough time surviving as well.
It’s all about what happens if the debt payments stop.
For other countries the Chinese military and/org threat of sanction is enough of a problem.
The US is not the same.
If I owe the bank $1000, and I don’t pay, I’m in trouble. If I owe the bank $750 billion, and I don’t pay, the bank is probably tye one in trouble.
