      Can someone ELI5 here?

In 2023, lands were sold (by whom, to whom?) such that they became private lands and cut off access?

Then, new access routes were proposed but a local group decided to almost literally gatekeept access? Then, over the summer, half a million euros worth of damage was done (by whom?) to OPW property? Was anyone prosecuted?

Now, land worth €11m+ is being bought by the State? Is this the same land sold in 2023? Who is selling the land and getting €11m of taxpayers‘ money?

      Excellent news.

Should never have come to this, but here we are.

€11.25 million for a car park is ridiculous. Far worse than a 300k bike shed.

Lovely result. Seeing the vitriol thrown at the people who organised the SC campaign was pretty pathetic and low so i hope those same people will do a bit of reflection now. Literally wouldnt have gotten this result had they not organised.

    5. Have the people who destroyed the OPW vehicles been found ? Hopefully now the people who were spamming the OPW social media will now stop

Its bloody ridiculous that they didn’t buy it for 5 million at the time . Now they’ve paid double for it. Nice little stunt by the buyer a few years ago

Hopefully now the staff will be able to go about their work free from harassment and intimidation.

    8. This is great news. Huge result for the campaigners who have kept the pressure on – I thought they were chasing a lost cause and am delighted to have been wrong.

    9. Slight correction the OPW refused to pay the €5m in 23,they said it was overvalued. They could have snapped it up then before it went to auction
