These alone, are what NDP needs, policy wise, and not one of these would be dared to utter or implement by liberals or tories.
Also to mods, I posted Heather McPherson’s housing platform, so my plan is to post all NDP leadership candidates‘ platforms as much as possible, so I don’t seem like I am biased, or directly advocating for 1 candidate over the other.
Some pretty good stuff in here. He’s probably my fav candidate so far. A worker controlled economy would be tough to implement, especially with the ruling class punching down as hard as they can, but fuck it we gotta try something
A company’s board needs to act in the interests of the shareholders, not the workers. If the workers control the company, they are effectively the owners, which means they will inevitably direct the profits towards themselves, without having invested any capital in the business. The end result is that businesses will demand that any new employees must buy in, which forms a massive barrier to employment to the exclusive benefit of the existing cohort of workers.
NDP needs to clean up their messaging on the TFW program. This reads as “we’re still going to bring in foreign labour, just make it easier for them to get PR and also give them an open work permit.”
Working class Canadians on the other hand, are more concerned with “We don’t want more competition in the workforce”
I’m not saying the NDP’s strategy is wrong, but they absolutely need to clarify what the numbers situation looks like.
