Another reason why Poilievre and the Conservatives did not want an election this year.
There was not a realistic path to government for them at this point with how polarizing he is to the non CPC voters.

Wonder what the odds are that he gets dumped during the leadership review. The people that put Trudeau bumper stickers on their truck seem to like him but they’ll vote conservative every time no matter what
Leadership numbers aren’t the best metric but they will affect public perception, which in turn will change the vote intention.
With the Liberals at 44%, they are beginning to pull away as the Conservatives go through their existenial crisis.
That’s one reason they didn’t vote the budget down; they knew am election would give Carney a majority government.
