    1. I’m not a military tactician but it seems to me that a missile to sink that ship is in order. No more spy ship. The only thing Russia understands is force.

“This is a vessel designed for gathering intelligence and mapping our undersea cables. We deployed a Royal Navy frigate and RAF P-8 planes to monitor and track this vessel’s every move, during which the Yantar directed lasers at our pilots.”

Turkey shot down a russian fighter jet in 2015 after it encroached on their airspace and it didnt start ww3, maybe its time the rest of us start showing appropriate responses to these hostile acts.

What is the only thing a bully understands? A punch straight in the mouth.

Putin really REALLY wants a NATO country to retaliate. That way he can package his failures in Ukraine as failures facing NATO.

They’re begging for a full on embargo of the Russian shadow fleet so Putin can claim they’re at war with NATO.

    6. Entered & On the edge of seem to be used interchangeably in the article in other sources it says On the edge – so, in international waters, to which they have freedom of navigation

    7. It feels one day we will see a headline: „russian ship fires rockets at nato plane, nato deeply concerned about the accident“

    8. I’m happy to see so many tough armchair military personnel in the comment section ready to sign up to the front lines. I wonder whats stopping them from going right now.

„fires lasers“ in title here, doesnt fully jive with the article. It says „directed lasers“.

Which sounds more like „pointed lasers“ …

It’s clear they are testing European reaction and provoking, and it’s very serious. But we should be accurate with our words. Correct me if wrong. Thx.

    10. Maybe this time NATO will do something? Something? Anything?

Nothing? Well Russia might as well continue.

    11. Nothing ever happens.

Ready for what? I highly doubt that they gonna seize or torpedo that thing.

Maybe i’m too narrow minded, but what is there of an option to solve this particular problem?

    12. We will just talk them to death as usual just like we do too all major situations…. Talk…. Vote…. Talk some more….. Vote….. Rinse and repeat.

We need fighters in position of power not cowards, Putin has stretched this far too long because no one wants to kick the bully in the balls.

I mean, he could probably send over some soldiers via rubber dinghies and we wouldn’t bat an eye?

    15. There is no such a thing as international water, international rights or borders.
Rights only exists with oversight of a institution above the other entities.

So without enforcement of peers or interested parties there is no law to be followed.
I this same way some European countries still keep colonies and territories in Africa and South America. As African and South Americans countries are not yet able to enforce sovereignty.

    16. why not just sink it and then say „we dont know what happened? was there a russian spy ship on our waters?“

    17. And here we are, normal civilians, getting fined for carrying a laser pointer……

Acts of war are apoarently lesser punished than civilian disobedience
