My best case scenario for AI use in government isn’t that it saves us money, but that it helps us invest better.
Let’s say you have $10B to invest in a new TTC line (or several smaller extensions of existing lines). Where’s the best place to build? A machine learning algorithm could test out a million different possibilities (including ones we might never think of ourselves) and deliver a solution that seriously improves commute times for people all over the city… but does that show up on a balance sheet?
