Trump launched a DOJ investigation into Democrats.
Trump tells Congress to clear the vote, it passes.
It lands on Trump’s desk, Trump signs it.
DOJ says they can’t release it, citing an active investigation.
His sudden shift is all theater. This will effectively kill the bill without killing it.
Its a power play to see who votes for it so he can shit on them.

He’s OK with them turning over the documents now that Patel & Co. have scrubbed everything that is detrimental to Trump and the GOP.

Trump only backs the voting, because it is a lost case for Trump, and now he is trying to jump on to the winning-wagon.
Trump and his regime will just stall the release later on.

Have Americans really forgotten that the only reason Congress is voting to release them is because Trump REFUSED to do it himself? Do people really not understand that?
The NYT understands that Trump’s only „giving Republicans permission now“ because last week he had the DOJ open investigations into Democrats. Now, whatever the vote is, Trump will just say, „I want it all open, but we can’t because there’s an ongoing investigation.“
He’s a phony and a liar and the NYT shouldn’t play games with readers. Just tell the truth.
Biden didn’t release any files either the entire time he was in office, they could care less about being transparent, now that they have a political motivation behind the whole thing, they care. Its never about being transparent, its always about an agenda.
