Lol we are at the point where black mirror episodes happen and no one really pays attention. Shits getting weird.

„Hold a knife to my throat. It’s the only way us teddy bears can get off.“

Immature technology tends to end up with toys first. That’s because a toy isn’t expected to be perfect. But this … feels like a Simpson’s Treehouse of Horrors episode. Like the doll who’s switch was left set on „evil“.

    4. When I was a kid, my teddy bear only told me how to find knives after I drank all the cough syrup. Kids these days have it so easy.

    5. This is 100% a problem.
But to clarify the potentially misleading title: researchers tested the toys by prompting for the location of knives and prompting sexual topics, and the toys did not have safety rails against it.

Lol. AI powered toys for kids?
Some of y’all parents are dumb as rocks.

This is what the people who think new ChatGPT and smart tech is just the “cute” and “cool” new thing so of course get it. Dumbdasses learn the hard way.

Creating this teddy bear was an obviously asinine idea. Even the company that made the chatbot they used said it’s not for children. E need to regulate AI, because this is the caliber of people who make decisions in industry. We can’t trust them.

Pretty unrelated, but I’m old as fuck so whatever. I remember putting the Reign in Blood cassette into my cousins Teddy Ruxpin. It wouldn’t dance if you did, but it was still a teddy bear playing Slayer, which 11 year old me thought was peak comedy.

    10. the knife part just says they’re usually stored in a safe place and that you should always ask an adult because they’re dangerous. Definitely think this toy is a bad idea but that part to me feels a little overblown. My 2 year old nephew has a knife in his kitchen playset. He knows knives belong in the kitchen

Wouldn’t have blinked an eye at this in the 80’s. Better question is what terrible parents would give this to their kid.

Chatty Cathy enters The Twilight Zone. How many horror movies have been made on this premise?
