Not a surprise. The Tories and the NDP both had two members „unexpectedly“ abstain from voting. It was a politically expedient way to avoid forcing an election, without voting in favour.

None of the opposition parties wanted the government to fall, so this was the best they could hope for. Essentially, they supported the budget without voting in favour of it.

No surprise. Nobody really wanted an election again so soon. The NDP especially, they don’t have an official leader yet or any chance of improving their already very weak position in a snap election.

Holding an another election this soon would favour the liberals. As the public would be angry and blame the opposing parties.

Well no one wanted an election. I don’t fully support the budget except for somethings but we didn’t need an election. I have a feeling that this government won’t last a full four years.

Two conservative opposition MPs hid in another building so they would be reported as abstaining and therefore not get blamed for voting no but still getting to complain about “how bad” the budget is.

Thank the Holy Maple Tree, so tired of election BS of the last few years, Conservatives really need a new leader, I hope they find a good one because Pierre isn’t good for this country. We will need a good conservative leader, one on board with nation building after the Carney Liberals are done.

This was the predictable outcome. No one wants another election. NDP is mostly broken and the Conservatives have a crisis of confidence.
