Im currently reading a scifi book called children of time that also has a really interesting perspective on advanced ant colonies.
The plot a has virus that makes its host super intelligent and its affecting most of the life on a newly terraformed and seeded planet. One of the main groups we follow is the spiders and how their society evolves, but they basically end up chemically enslaving the ants on their planet into a working class. I thought that was a really novel idea, but it seems life already be doing that basically
