      Not much of a story, but I did find this part interesting:

      >The former MP said that during his time as House Speaker, he used to host lunches and dinners for parliamentarians and diplomats on the Hill, and said it was helpful in bringing the temperature down in the House. It helped build cordial relationships among MPs from different parties, he said.

      >“It’s a little bit harder to be screaming at somebody if you’ve gotten to know them a bit and then you’ve had a pleasant conversation with,” said Regan.

      It’s really too bad that one of the major parties now forbids this sort of cross-party fraternization.
